Wild Life
Lochán-Trail Lodging sites are located in heavily forested areas. This positions our site users where wildlife live and frequent. Is this reason for concern, not at the slightest. Our locations will present an incredible opportunity to truly take in all nature has to offer. That being said, there are site practices that can be performed to keep our encounters with wildlife positive. The single biggest thing that can be done to avoid unwanted visitors is to keep a clean site. When tenting, a night time ritual of securing food packs should be done. These two small task will go along way in keeping our wildlife experience positive. If you do have a wildlife encounter, it is best to stay calm and perform deterrent actions.
Canoeing
Our properties offer a great opportunity for canoeing with access to ponds, lakes, and rivers. Canoeing is a fabulous way to take to the water, they are light making them easy to maneuver and transport, no boaters license is necessary, and they are very quiet allowing the outdoor enthusiast more opportunities to see wildlife. However, knowing how to tansport a canoe properly, a few basic canoeing techniques, and knowing how to perform canoe recovery can increase our comfort level and make our time on the water much more enjoyable. It is also a very good practice to check the weather forecast before heading out. High winds can make navigation very difficult.

And finally, having some basic first aid techniques can prove to be helpful if injuries occur. Crossing off this small list will help you be prepare, and as the saying goes, a prepared hiker is a successful hiker.
